Meet the Team! Kate Clarke Q+A

It's a really exciting time at Blakeney Point Search & Selection at the moment with our recent news of a brand new division, BP Operations, headed up by Carla Linsday.

We're happy to share the news of our continued growth as we continue supporting clients and candidates in the Food & Drinks Manufacturing Industry. BP Operations specialises in providing expert Permanent and Interim recruitment for Food Manufacturing industries across the UK.

Over the next weeks we will be getting to know the new BP Operations team. Starting with Kate Clarke, who has joined Blakeney Point as Head of Resourcing.

Kate qualified as a teacher in 2005, but a year later fate brought her first recruitment role and she has never looked back!

As a food industry recruiter Kate has been working at High Street branches and also spent 6 years working as on-site recruitment manager with food manufacturing companies

We sat down with Kate to find out a little bit more about her...

What was your first job?

I qualified as a teacher and worked at a private international primary school. I was teaching kids languages: Polish and English.  

How long have you been in recruitment?

I started as a Consultant at Abacus Recruitment in Ebbw Vale in 2006 – this year is my 17th year in recruitment. During that period, I have worked at branches, on my clients’ sites and remotely – covering FMCG for 10 years and construction for just short of 7 years.

What three words would those closest to you use to describe you?

It is a difficult one… Down-to-earth, adaptable, honest.

What's your favourite food?

‍I am a big foodie! I love eating out and trying new dishes, as well as cooking them. I love seafood, “proper” Italian pizza, any spicy food, refreshing salads and of course my biggest guilty pleasure: cheese.

What's your favourite way to spend your free time?

I spend my spare time with my husband Dave, our little girl Olivia and Ruby – the dog. We chill, play games, go for nice pub walks, and of course eat a lot of lovely food! I am a big fan of self-development and learning and I have just completed a CIPD Level 5 HRM course, which was a challenge but yay! I did it. I also love gardening – which I find very relaxing and satisfying.  

What are you most excited about working for Blakeney Point?

I am excited to be a part of the business which is successfully growing but still has that important “people factor”. I am looking forward to working with experienced specialist recruiters, building the brand and strong relationships with our clients and candidates.
