Depending on what you do, there are many reasons why you should consider a career in food and drink. You could be at the forefront of up-and-coming trends in the food world that no one knows about. Food and drink remain the single biggest manufacturing sector in the UK, and so the industry offers excellent career prospects. The industry will always need a steady intake of employees to support the countries best-loved brands, as well as to lead the way in innovating and creating new brands.

Working in the food and drink industry will allow you to gain a wide range of skills, including logical thinking, good communication, creativity, teamwork and leadership. The industry is a great environment for creative and logistics thinkers alike. Consumer demand for new products, a new technology that require new systems and imaginative ways to market are a small example of how these industries are always creating.

When we look back over the year in lockdown, we can see how important the food and drink industry is. Every single member of the food industry was labelled a key worker, which tells us the massive responsibility of the sector. The industry and everyone who works in it, make sure the public has access to food. If it wasn’t for all the people who put so much time and energy into their food-related jobs, we couldn’t eat.
